Crowdfunding A Mutual Understanding

SUPPORT THIS FILM AT CINECROWD

We are producing the new film A Mutual Understanding of Abigail Prade. We are going to shoot the film in spring 2019 in New York.

Abigail Prade (1989) is a Dutch filmmaker. After studying art history, she pursued directing at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. Her thesis film FUTURE PERFECT (2017), shot on location in Seoul, screened at the Netherlands Film Festival, Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival, and the Locarno Film Festival. Abigail was selected for the 2018 Locarno Filmmakers Academy and was presented as an emerging talent to the international film industry.

We have already received a lot of support from different parties (CBK Rotterdam, equipment from New York University, and the cast and crew who all agree to work for free). But making films is expensive and we need your help to pay for all the unsexy things that go into making a film, such as insurance, equipment, transportation, accommodation, and food. We need your support to make this film into a reality. Any contribution will help us.

Our film ‘Lejla’ selected for Cannes Cinéfondation

Our short film ‘Lejla’, by Dutch director Stijn Bouma, will participate in the Cinéfondation Selection of the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from May 17th to 28th, 2017.

The film is about a young woman from Sarajevo who feels stuck in her life, working in a fast food restaurant and taking care of her elderly father. When she falls in love with a young sailor, she must decide what’s best for her future.

The film is written and directed by Stijn Bouma and is a coproduction between the Sarajevo Film Academy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Alchemic Film in The Netherlands. The main parts are played by Lejla Hadžić, Vedad Terzić and Slobodan Čabaković. Festival Distribution is handled by Some Shorts.

Stijn Bouma
Stijn Bouma is a Dutch film director who will graduate from the Sarajevo Film Academy this year. Here, he followed the film.factory program, which was started by renowned Hungarian film director Béla Tarr. The past 2.5 years he has been taught by international directors like Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Atom Egoyan and Carlos Reygadas.

Lejla is his second year film.

Cinéfondation
The Cinéfondation selection forms part of the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival. The Cinéfondation and Shorts Jury, this year headed by Cristian Mungiu, will award a prize to the best three films.

The Cinéfondation was created in 1998 and is devoted to the search for new talent. Each year, the Cinéfondation selects fifteen to twenty short and medium-length films from film schools all over the world. This year, sixteen films were selected out of more than 2,500 entries.
